Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

I just got home from cutting the lower shock 'tabs' off of mine. I tried cutting very delicately in an attempt to re-use the original tab/s. If they're too short from the desegregation, I'll have to make new ones from 2" square stock . . . .....

Unless of course there's going to be some sort of reaction from ART to supply us w/these tabs (sort of a pro-active customer service )??????

There are a number of us who would be interested in this solution... those of us who supported you by buying early product don't really want to be left out of all that proactive customer service just because we were at the front of the line.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

Although..... I was considering just welding the shock 'stud' directly to the side of the a-arm instead of welding the tab to the top part of the a-arm. If I did the stud on the side, I gain back some of the length lost when switching the tab from bottom to the top of the arm.

When the c-10 strong arms were originally designed they were desinged on a c-10 without dropped spindles. The arms were also designed to utilize the stock shock location. Both goals were accomplished and don't result in any problems; however, if you are wanting to lay the crossmember on the ground you will have to run a 2.5 or 3 inch spindle in conjuction with the arms. When you do this, your shock tab does get lower to the ground which could cause a potential rub. More and more people are wanting to get lower and lower, including myself, which is why we decided to go with a flipped shock tab, and a new upper mount. If you are having any problems with your current arms, feel free to call me (812) 481-4710, or drop me an e-mail chase@ridetech.com and I would be happy to help.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

I have an option... I would be more than happy to offer board members some 'special' pricing on the new upper and lower shock mounts (to convert your old arms to the new design)... if necessary. Maybe Air Ride would even discount the mounts a little more than normal??? It is understandable that a new cost has been incurred to "improve" the design, and it is also fair that that cost be passed on... IMO.

It looks to be one of those 'eternal threads'... and the 69... well, it got put on hold for a short bit, but should be seeing more progress soon.

It's titled Classic Trucks (as in the mag) but once inside it's nothing but LMC ads.

First pic is the cover ...
