Location of oil pressure port on block
I haven't been able to find the answer to this via searches - but where is the port on the engine block for the mechanical oil pressure gauge? Can someone provide a picture? Thanks!

Re: Location of oil pressure port on block
If it is a chevy V8, it is on the driver side rear of the block, next to where the distributer goes in...

What year block? On the early blocks with mechanical guage it's behind the distributer.

Re: Location of oil pressure port on block
Just about all of the GM blocks has the port on the top of the motor by the distributor. Some also had a port (usually plugged) just above the oil filter on the side of the block. If you are going to hook up the pressure sending unit, you would want the top connection, so that you have the point furthest away from the oil filter.

Details of truck - 1972 C10, 350V8. It has an Edelbrock intake. There is a port near the distributor with a sending unit in it already, but it looks like a water temperature unit.

Re: Location of oil pressure port on block
Sounds like you may have already figured it out, but here's a couple pix anyway. If you have a sending unit that looks similar to this, it's for an electric oil gauge. Just ditch it if you dont need it. The mechanical gauge fittings and oil line still go in the same hole on the block under the distrubutor.

Re: Location of oil pressure port on block
I agree, IMO an electric oil gauge is preferable to a mechanical.

Re: Location of oil pressure port on block
How about a vortec engine, say a 98 model, is the oil pressure port going to be the same as the older engines?
