New Rallys won't fit?
I have a 72 C10. I just bought 4 1984 15x8 chevy truck rally wheels to put on my 72 truck. I have over $500 in these wheels, purchase, shipping, and powder coat and the wheels won't fit over the hubs front or rear. Do I need to grind off the powder coat from the center of the wheel to make them fit?
Thanks |

Re: New Rallys won't fit?
Try this thred. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ls+backspacing there are several diffrent year/stype ralley wheels. Those for all drum and those for disc / drums. You probabaly have the wrong set for your truck.
Hope this helps, it's all I could find in the search. I know there's more info out there, hopefully anoth member will chime in.

Re: New Rallys won't fit?
i'd suggest first measuring the hub diam and your hole diameter with a caliper or compass to see exactly how much additional clearance is needed//if its just the thickness of the powder i'd just sand it down for a snug fit

Re: New Rallys won't fit?
Clean up the hub & remove any excess coating if there's some there. If they are 5x5 'truck' ralleys & not 5x4.75 'car' ralleys, they should fit. Is it possible they're aftermarket w/a diff bolt pattern?

Re: New Rallys won't fit?
I took a dremel tool with a sanding tube and ground off all the powder coat on the inside hub flange of one wheel. I test fit it on the front and back and it fits good now. I am just suprised what a close tollerance fit that is. It is snug but a perfect fit metal to metal.
Thanks for your help, I was starting to panic a little. |

Re: New Rallys won't fit?
I ran into the same thing. Had to sand the inside of the hub opening to get it to fit on the rear. Another thing i found out was to put a little grease around the axle where the wheel fits snug. This makes it much easier to take off later on. Eric

Re: New Rallys won't fit?
instead of grease on the hub, try anti-seize compound.
