rear disc

have previously purchased a rear disc kit for my 79 half ton 2wd and the caliper brackets are incorrect for my differential (stock 12 bolt). the seller is having a problem coming up with the correct ones. am using caddie e-brake calipers and 11" rotors. can anyone suggest where to get just the brackets that are good quality and reasonable. I hate spending money for something I have already bought.

Re: rear disc

If he can't supply the correct brackets, then ask for you money back.

I should get what he has come up with today or tomorrow and will let you know how it turns out. You don't have to worry, the person is not one of our truck suppliers. He is a street rod guy I met a Charlotte auto fair and seemed very knowledgeable about the brakes for our trucks. This wasn't the only problem I have had but one that is a little harder for me solve. I realize now that I probably should have bought from TSM. Actually I saved so much money by purchasing from him that it is worthwhile. The other problems were not major and my close friend who owns a machine shop took care of them no charge. This guy is really nice and I believe is trying to come up with the right brackets. I am just covering all the bases in case he fails.

I'm confused here. If they don't work, then how are you saving money?

This person didn't come up with a bracket that works.

I understand your confusion but they were really cheap and the other parts are very good quality. my friend did not charge me for the slight mods to make everything else work. I could mod the brackets to work but feel it is questionable to mod the caliper bracket. Found some brackets that are correct on eBay and still am saving couple hundred dollars total on changeover. I am replacing every brake part except front rotors which are in perfect condition. This is a big deal but I have been dissatisfied with the brakes on this truck for years and decided that this is justified.

Re: rear disc

Soo youre saying that your truck needed new brakes, and you order an upgrade with mostly good parts but one part is all wrong?

Would I be out of line if I compared that to:

My previous car blew up, so I ordered a brand new corvette- all decked out, and when it came it was all cherry except for the fact that it came with a 1.6L 4-cylinder, BUT that wasnt a big deal because the dealer said they didnt have the proper engine, which is fine, because my buddy just happens to have the proper engine, BUT I still have to put it in myself...

Maybe my opinion is out of line.. But if I didn't get what I ordered, the dealer would somehow make it right... No questions asked!!

Re: rear disc

Boy, you guys are tough! I glad the only thing that is wrong is that I am giving this guy a chance to correct what is wrong.

Re: rear disc

Tough? How so?

Here are the facts as you explained them:

1.) You purchased a set of rear discs.
2.) They don't work because the caliper bracket is wrong.
3.) You bought them cheap.

The price is inconsequential, regardless of how low, if the part can't be used.

How is that tough?

I think i understand what he is talking about saving money

1-new car ready to drive home $25,000.00
2-new car ready to drive home but will not run, someone at the factory did not put in the right computer. got a deal on it for $15,000.00 but cant drive it.
3- you buy the one for 15k and buy a new computer for $500.00
4- you now have the same car for $15,500.00
5- what a hell of a deal if you want t o go this way

6- MAYBE I DONT KNOW WHAT THE HELL I JUST SAID
