Can Anyone Tell Me Why My Turbo 350 Takes About 5 Minutes Before It Will Go In Gear On Cold Startups? Also Sometime Goes About 100' Then Stalls Again. Once Warmed Up It Is Fine. What Is The Deal With That??

Is the fluid fine? I had that same issue with my tranny but oddly when i finally tuned the engine correctly it seem to remedy it. Oh and I was a quart low in the tranny, I usually check it in drive with some one holding the brake.

I've never heard of this. I've been checking my 71 in park after a 20 min drive for 29 years now. Seems to work okay. The tranny has 250,000 miles on it and I've only changed the fluid and filter once.

turbo 350 trannys have 2 micro screens in them, if these plug up, with the colder thicker oil it can cause grief.

My TH350 started doing the same thing. Once warmed up it ran fine. Its called morning sickness by the tranny shops around here. I was told it needed to be rebuilt. I replaced it with a TH400 and a Gear Vendors O.D. Sorry but I don't know anymore than that.

my th400 used to do this. never actually fixed the problem but i thought it was a clogged screen. drop the pan and see if there is any residue on the bottom.

Assuuming your fluid level is OK it sounds like the usual hardening seals.Warm it up good before you drive it and you may still get some good miles out of it.Drive it cold and slipping and you better start shopping around for a rebuilt.
