Frame bracket or brace?

Hello all. new to the board. I would like to know what this bracket or brace is for it seems to only be on the coil spring rear and not on the leaf spring rear. What is its purpose and do I need it if I change mine from leaf to coil? P.S. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE I HAVE EVER FOUND ON THE NET!!!

Re: Frame bracket or brace?

pretty sure that plate acts as a reenforcement pad over the spring seat. You'll need that crossmember just in front of of dif as well (or build one). That is where the shocks mount on the coil rear.
Welcome to the board!

Re: Frame bracket or brace?

if you look in the first pic of the coil rear you can see and extra plate on the frame and in the second pic of a leaf rear there is no plate
