Found this truck...C/90
Was driving down the road by work the other day and noticed a truck sitting off the road a ways that I had not noticed before. So, today I grabbed my camera on the way out the door and shot a pic. I'd never seen one of this body style with dual rear axles before. You may have. I thought it was interesting. Let me know what you think.

Re: Found this truck...C/90
It looks like a bit of custom work to me. Now if only the bed tilts / lowers for loading a vehicle.

Re: Found this truck...C/90
was it actually badged c-90? i thought they changed cabs after the 1 ton, to the type that has the fender that cuts into the bottom of the front of the cabs.( you can see the notch in the doors) still a very cool truck imo

Re: Found this truck...C/90
Yeah, the badge said C90. Otherwise I wouldn't have known what to call it. The cab looks to be just like a C10-30. I was wondering too if this is a factory thing or possibly custom work. It looks believable.

Re: Found this truck...C/90
Must be a typo. That`s a C/30.Someone prolly added a tag-axle.A friend has a vintage lumber company and another friend is his in-house wrench. The pt together a flatbed,I want to say 20`deck,and he riged up a tag axle using single buds mounted inboard, like a bus.

Re: Found this truck...C/90
Looks like a 157'' wheel base with a tag axle. If you follow the series up to a c60-- a 90 would be absolutely huge, frame and everything

Re: Found this truck...C/90
I'm almost positive it said 90, but after I look at the picture, it may have said 30. I'll look again. Maybe there was a shadow or something. I didn't get out of the car to look at it since it was down someones driveway and I didn't want to get shot or something.

Re: Found this truck...C/90
Yeah it's got a tag axle. Notice how the tag axle wheels are smaller than the wheels on the drive axle. Still looks cool though.

Re: Found this truck...C/90
I would guess that it's a tag axle setup, if you look close it appears like the tag has a smaller rim diameter and a different tire, a nice sign that it's not exactly stock.

Re: Found this truck...C/90
That has to be a 30 series. The 40 and up series would look like this...

Great minds think at the same time, or 6 minutes apart.

Re: Found this truck...C/90

Re: Found this truck...C/90
Got it figured out,,,,,It's not a taq axle, It's a twin screw. And it has a button on the shifter to Engage/Disengage the last axle !!!! If your first rear axle gets to spinnin' in the mud and sinks down you can engage the last axle.
Or It's a tilt bed and they added the tag axle to keep the welded on frame extension from breaking off when they were loading something !!!!! But seriously folks,,,never saw a ton truck with a tag axle. bw4sale, go back there and knock on the door and see if they will tell ya about that truck, 'cause i'm sure it has a long history !!!!!
