Need Help W/ Points On 292 I6.
Can someone tell me what the gap (in thousandths) should be for the points on my 292 Inline 6 motor? Thanks! Darren

Yes i can. .016 used, .019 new. I just put new points in my 292.

If you ever get a chance, try an HEI. They are more reliable and hotter spark. There were two styles: the typical in-cap coil and one with a divorced coil that lends itself to some hotter after market coils. I have pics of that setup with MSD coil, if you would like to see. email & I will send.

I put an Ignitor kit on mine from Pertronix. it's easy, take out the points plate bolt the plate they provide in and put on the little black box. slide a magnietic ring over the dist. cam and run the wires. it goes in the stock location and all that you see different is an extra wire for power going into the dist. from the coil. my truck runs like a dream after I did it. make a world of difference. you can also use any aftermarket coil with it. I used their Flamethrower 40,000 volt coil.
