69-72 two tone paint

right now my 69 is all blue. i was thinking about painting a white stripe down the middle and making it two tone like they did from the factory since it already has the mouldings and what not. my question is did all two tone trucks have white tops or were some the same the top and bottom of the truck. i didnt know if i should bother to paint my top white or if it would like tacky with it not white. opinions?

Re: 69-72 two tone paint

My truck was all medium green. I like the white top so I'm biased. However I'd start with painting the top white.

I did mine in a weekend.

Re: 69-72 two tone paint

There were 3 two-tones,all with white(and select other accent colors).
*accent color on top
*accent color on top & below lower belt moulding
*accent color on top & between upper/lower belt moulding

One thing I`ve noticed is the mouldings get kinda lost with the two-tone and stand out with solid paint.

Was wondering that too. I'm trying to find info on where the seperation lines betwen the two colors fell. I know it went along the trim but how were the lines done from the factory around the doors, windows, jams and back at the tail lights and tailgate. Ive seen door window frames painted all white and I've seen them with just a 1/4" wrap to the inside and the rest of the frame painted the same as the inside of the truck. As usual pics are worth 1000words. Thanks in advance.

Re: 69-72 two tone paint

Sorry, I jumped the gun a little (didn't read to the end of my search). I found this thread

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...t=factory+tone

Interesting that the factories would have different paint schemes around the door window frames. I think I'm going with the wrap instead of the fully painted white so that the interior looks all one color.

I know of at least one truck that came from the factory with the white between the mouldings... but NEVER had a white roof... no trim or anything.
