Any 70 GMC fans? Look what I found yesterday!
Yesterday I spied this very original 70 GMC 1500 LWB truck that used to be a lot truck for a service station. It has 100k original miles and is all original paint etc. It does have rusty rockers and some dents but floors and supports are good. It's a 350 3-spd and unfortunately doesnt have gauges but will wind up a nice resto for me.
Now I just have to get the owner to sell it to me. He is thinking about what he wants for it now!Dont you think it'll go nice with my other green GMC's? |

Looks good. Nearly as cool as a 69 GMC.

cool looking truck. looks like it'll be a nice addition to your collection.
what kind of shape is the grill in? looks like it might be in nice shape considering the big cage in the front

Re: Any 70 GMC fans? Look what I found yesterday!
Not a bad idea. I actually have a great picture of my Grandfathers 71 Cheyenne Super the day he bought it new and also after it was lettered. I could have someone paint it with the same style letters and simply change the first initial. This was his first pickup and he wanted it to look nice so he had it done professionally just like his previous auto a 66 SS 396 El Camino! Hard to believe it was my Grandpa, but he loved cool cars and trucks like the rest of us.
I was thinking about repairing the dents on the bed and using it to restore the Dark Olive / White 72 Sierra and then using the mostly unrepairable bed of the 72 on the 70. Unrusted bed's are hard to come by and then find one that wast tortured here in Missouri. Most were used on the farm and I bet many were gone by the mid 80's. I'll let you boy's know how it works out and in the meantime if anyone has a straight 8' fleetside that is not rusted I'd be interested so I dont have to swap. OT |

Green GMCs are the best, not that I'm biased or anything...
Sweet bumper, if you get the truck I need more pics.

Re: Any 70 GMC fans? Look what I found yesterday!
I'll keep you all up to speed on how this goes. I am usually able to work something out.
DAC, the medium olive 72 Sierra 1500 you see in the picture is actually from Mobridge, SD. Was sold new by Quenzer Autoland ( I think that is correct ) and lived its life there in Mobridge until the late 80's. It is one of the only rust free trucks of this vintage I ever have seen that wasnt sealed in a vault or from the S.W. Anyway I will let you know what happens and I will also scan a picture of Pop Lauer ( My Grandfather ) with his new 71 Cheyenne Super as soon as I can get around to remembering to bring it to my office with me. love those trucks! I have a front bumper similar to that one for my ramp truck. They are beefy!
