Heater motor
Hi, i just bought, 2 days ago, a 72 cheyenne longbed, and the heater motor only runs when ur turn it all the way up nad it sounds really bad, doesnt run fast, and dies after a few minutes. I was wondering if i had to take the hood hinges/hood off in order to remove the motor, or if i can get it out without doing that? Thanks.....

Re: Heater motor
Is that so that the motor can drop down once the bolts are removed?

Re: Heater motor
It's been awhile, but yeah, just get the inner fender out of the way, drop it down & should give you good access to the blower.

Re: Heater motor
So i took off the inner fender, and there was just barely not enough room to get the motor out. So i just took off the hood, only a few bolts, and i got the motor out, need a new one, its pretty much crap, anybody know where the best place to get a replacement is? Thanks by the way for the help.....

Re: Heater motor
Be sure to check out the FAQ section. There is a write up about using a '94 chevy extended cab blower motor and it puts out twice the power as the stock 67-72 motor.
I purchased one through Napa, but I haven't installed it yet. It came complete with the squirrel cage for under $40.00. Adam |

Re: Heater motor
just a word of caution... if you replace a standard blower ( heater only sysrtem) with a high output blower ( as used with airconditioning); you will need to install a relay for the high blower switch position. The amperage draw of the blower will exceed the switch capacity; leading to early switch failure.
