Crew Cab Frame question (1/2T vs 3/4 T)??????

I'm trying to figure out the best way to build a frame for my 4 Door CrewCab. It is currently sitting on a 3/4 Ton LWB chassis. I've purchased a completely redone SWB 1/2 Ton chassis. I see my options as:

1. Shorten the 3/4 Ton frame and transfer all the parts over from the 1/2 Ton.
2. Cut the rear clip off of the 1/2 Ton and graft it on to the 3/4 Ton and transfer the front suspension from the 1/2 T frame.
3. Cut the extended portion out of the 3/4 Ton frame, then split the 1/2 Ton frame and graft in the 3/4 Ton section.
4. Split the 1/2 Ton frame, find another donor frame for donor rails and make it match the original 3/4 ton frame (as far as where the cab mounts).

I'm leaning towards #4. Any one else got any ideas? Also, why is there a difference in the 1/2 and 3/4 Ton cab mount bushings? Are the mounts the same and just the bushings different? Thanks.

Rob - re cab mounts - front cab mount and rubber are the same for 1/2 and 3/4. The rear cab frame bracket sits lower on the frame with 3/4 and 4X4. This means the rubber is taller for 3/4. The rear bolt is the same diameter but longer for the 3/4. I think the idea was to provide a little more cushion for the heavier duty 3/4 and 4X4.

Bob - so do you think it would be a good idea to use the 3/4 Ton rear mount for the crew crab?

What cab mount bracket is on the frame now? Is the top of the bracket flush with the top of the frame or is it below the top of the frame? Did the factory add a mount between the normal front and the now extended rear?

I would think the 1/2 would be just fine for your use. LMC shows the same price for 1/2 mounts vs, 3/4mounts. Go with what ever bracket you have.

The 3/4T frame has the 3/4T mounts and the 1/2 T has the 1/2T mounts. So, I can use either. I'm just trying to figure out which ones would be best.

Have you considered using a suburban frame? When i built my s10 cab truck thats what i used because the middle section was flatter and allowed me to mount the extended s10 cab lower on the frame without notching for the frame kickups.

Have you thought about using a Longhorn frame since it is 6" longer (133" wb) and has a deeper, stronger cross-section than either the 3/4 or 1/2 ton frame (1-ton frame). This will give you less flex with the longer cab you are using. You are going to cut down your bed so this will allow you a longer bed as well.

Rob - after reading your last response, I'd go with the 3/4T mounts to provide just a little more "give" over the 1/2T.

My comment on LMC was just to point out there is no real "price" difference between the 2.

Just out of curiousity, what is your thought on the bed length?

I'm even more jealous now. A kewl Burb and a stretch. Put a hot tub in the bed and provide limo service.

rob go with #1 that's what i was going to do and switch it to 1/2 ton suspension that would easyest way if you don't let know about the frame i have interest in it. later paul
