Re: poly gas tank install
Did you remove your old steel tank? Do you have a new sending unit? Do you have the tank straps? It will install like a suburban or blazer tank. The panel has wood floor like suburban. I have a 72 Blazer tank out, what pictures do you need?

Re: poly gas tank install
Original tank is out, replacing with poly tank, straps and sending unit came with tank, when i put tank where old tank was the straps dont line up with any existing holes, and the straps dont secure the top of tank, they just go under it,it would allow tank to bounce around ,surely they dont expect you to mount it against the wood floor?

Re: poly gas tank install
I AM LOOKING INTO DOING THE SAME SWAP OUT..I'VE HAD TO CHANGE SENDING UNIT TWICE ALREADY..IT COSTS ABOUT $70.00 FOR PART $200.00 FOR COMPLETE KIT (TANK,STRAPS,SENDING UNIT ,ETC)ALSO GONNA CUT AN ACCESS HOLE IN FLOOR BOARD ABOVE TANK FOR FUTURE ACCESS...

Re: poly gas tank install
I don't have any pics but I can tell you how it goes. You'll see a flange on either side of tank they rest againset the bottom of the frame overlaping the frame enough to keep it from hitting the bottom of the floor, the j-bolts get hooked in the passenger outside vertical portion of the frame with the straps at the bottom strech the straps under tank and back up towards frame on opposite side and you'll see 2 holes in the frame, since you don't have any original tank parts you'll need to get 2 bolts, washers & nuts for use on this side of the frame, other than that before doing install get your sender installed and locate all your vent hoses and your filler hose thats needed and see if they are cracked if so replace them and myself I also replace the clamps, the 1 1/4" filler hose I've gotten at farm implement stores, marine outlets and occasionally NAPA, the vent hoses are available everywhere.
Hope this helps. GMCPaul |
