Re: BBC Serpentine Set up

Pics.

1St Picture is the brackets for sale in the box. Again, this is all the brackets and pulleys required to do a serp conversion on a BBC. This does not include the AC compressor or pulley, as I was going to use a Dorman bypass pulley ( not included). This requires a reverse rotation water pump. These brackets are from a 1990 K3500 with a 454. This includes a belt for records... you want to take the belt to the parts store and get a new one :p

2nd Picture is the brackets set up I used on my 1971 402BBC (not for sale) that illustrate what they can be. Yes, I am running two alts... one is a welder and the other is a 260amp primary. This was after a bit of work. This is the proper belt path.

Re: BBC Serpentine Set up

How far forward does all this reach? I have a complete BBC short water pump set-up - PS/Alt/AC with all pulleys and brackets. Is there a significant improvment with your set-up?

I know the appearance would be different but what else?

I guess you might say I am interested - Bob

It uses a standard long reverse rotation water pump. I think there's 2" difference between a short and long water pump???

There are two schools of thought within the Serp/V belt argument. I went serp, as there's better pulley engagement (more than half of the pulley is wrapped by the belt),cleaner looks (IMHO), one belt and one tensioner to deal with and with wear indicators: it's alot easier to install and keep tensioned. That's also the main arguement against it: One belt to fail.

Overall, I don't know of a car manufacturer that's still using v-belts...

This set up is installed in a jeep with far less room than a C or K truck. That is a seriously oversized radiator and electric fan combo.

Re: BBC Serpentine Set up

hotrodmtodd - good job. Show some pictures and measurements when it is mocked up. I still might go this way if I find another serp set-up.

Re: BBC Serpentine Set up

John, Paypal sent. I just realized that it was PLUS shipping. Sorry about that. Will send another 20. Thanks, Mike

Bob: I feel bad that I got ahead of you bud. This setup is actually going on my '70 Chevelle. I am running long nose Weiand roots type blower on it and this [should] work out great. I will keep my eyes open for a set for YOU if I see any. Take care.

Re: BBC Serpentine Set up

Mike you were always ahead of me. While that would be interesting, I already have the complete SWP set up for BBC including components. The serp would have been additional expense and time.
