700R4 mount question
OK, I hang out in the 60-66 forum most of the time, but surf all of them for info, so hopefully someone here can help.......
I have a 700R4 tranny, and the mounting bolt holes on my new aftermarket crossmember do not line up. This tranny came out of an 1985 corvette... Question: Do they have different tailpieces for the tranny's? Can I just swap it out if they do? I would hope that's all I have to do seeing how common they are... Any info will be great Thanks for the help... Chad

Re: 700R4 mount question
Sorry everyone, I should have been a little clearer....The holes on the tailpices of the transmission do not match up to the mounting holes on the crossmember.
The crossmember itself fits great!! I bought an aftermarket package from Performance Products: Engine mounts, tranny crossmember and mounts, and bolts....Al that fits fine. here is a pic of how the tranny looks on the crossmember.... BAgged91 : Looks like I need the tailpiece for the Caprice.....That thread was a bunch of help. Thanks Chad

Re: 700R4 mount question
looking at the photo, you MIGHT be able to flip the X-member around, so the mounting tap is pointing to the rear. If there isn't enough room to clear the tail shaft from the main cross member like that, then you'll just have to slide it back a little, and drill new holes.

Re: 700R4 mount question
just but a truck tailhousing and all your troubles go away. The pic that bagged 91 put in shows the middle tailhousing as astro but it is actually camaro/ firebird. The three holes go to the diff.
