drop spindles or springs

I am going to install a 2/4 drop in my 72 half ton with a 400sbc. I have been researching the options and have found that ECE sells a 2.5 inch drop spindle that eliminate the "harsh ride and alignment problems common with other forms of lowering". Is the added expense of the drop spindles worth it compared to the 2 drop springs? Thanks.

Not for 2 inches, you'll never notice the change in ride with a set of 2 inch springs.

Save your money. I'd buy the Summit brand drop springs. They are cheapest and actually "Ground Force" brand. I've run them many times over the years.

As someone with 30 years experience in alignment, I'm really big into maintaining suspension geometry. For that reason I went with the 2.5" spindles from ECE. They're excellent pieces. I originally bought a set from Classic Parts of America, who in-turn bought them from Classic Performance Products. Stay away from them. The parts have a design flaw that prevented me from being able to set the alignment. I tried to work with them to get it corrected. Besides loosing a bunch of time and hair, I was never able to work out any kind of return adjustment. I degrees, sorry.
I used the drop spindles on the front with new springs and 4 inch springs on the rear. I also added front and rear stabilizers and KYB shocks. My truck handles like a go-cart, which is what I wanted. I can hang a corner at 30 mph like it's on rails. I also wielded all the cross-members when I had the frame off, because handling was always my intent.

Thanks for the replies! Does the geometry get out of line enough that it is difficult to get adjusted with just 2" drop springs?

Springs and spindles both...once you start lowering...2" is never enough...LOL! I'm looking at mine now realizing that I am going to have to section the front cross member before I am happy.
