Small block in a '53

Will a small block fit in a '53 with the stock steering column and steering box using either stock exhaust manifolds or block hugger headers?

Small block will fit, but you will need to shim the steering box out
away from the motor a little. I dont remember exactly how far,
maybe .75 inch.

Re: Small block in a '53

I got a '54 with a 350 sbc and cast iron headers with MII front and an 70's steering column:

Not sure if this helps though.
