Hey
Hey,
Just posting to say hi, I am new to the site and I have a question. I am trying to find out the origional #s matching engine that came in my 1972 c10. Does anyone know where i might find this info? |

Welcome to the board from Maryland.
I know there was a recent post on decoding your truck's VIN, but I'm not sure about engine #'s. I'll do some searching and see if I can find anything

Although the VIN will tell you the engine size, it will not tell you what plant produced the engine. Mortec has a list of casting codes that will help you get close to what would be original, but in order to actually be "Numbers Matching" it would have your partial vin stamped on it by the casting The list of casting codes is so diverse that your best bet is to find an engine, and then look it up, but since it will never be numbers matching, you're almost better off just finding the engine you want, and saving yourself a headache.
