Presure washer killed my paint

Went to the Do it your self wash today... My paint started to blow off, some parts are light blue, some are gray, and some bare metal... it wouldnt stop peeling so I just kept on spraying and spraying blasting it off..lol
got home and started to sand it some, and prob just spray some rattle can primer on it tommorow. Oh and this was the first time I washed it all sense I bought it, if you can believe that..lol
Just click my avatar pic, if you don't know what it looked like before

Re: Presure washer killed my paint

lol, I did start to sand it to get the rest, but it pretty much blew paint off of everything but the hood... guess the guy I bought it from gave it a quick spray job to sell it.. I dunno

I dont know anything about paint, but all the parts the blew to the ground are not hard, they are bendy and stretchy.. most paint chips I have ever seen are hard.. I dunno

Re: Presure washer killed my paint

Well I must say you seem to be taking it really well. I go nuts if a bug splats on my paint. All I can say is hang in there and at least now you can see your foundation for future paint jobs!!!!!!!!!! I mean I can't beleive that happened.

Re: Presure washer killed my paint

I had a friend paint his own car and the exact same thing happened. It was his first time painting a car. Went to the paint store bought the paint and primer. When he finished painting the car, it looked like a professional paint job. But there was one problem, he did not put any hardener in the paint. After a couple days and some rain showers, the paint fell off. Looks like the same thing happened to your paint.

Take a scotch-brite pad to the rest of it and leave it alone.

I agree that the "patina" thing is the rage these days.

Re: Presure washer killed my paint

That's one powerful pressure washer!

Besides destroying the paint, 'looks like it blew out your clearance lights, tore off your outside mirrors and ate your rear bumper. Geez.

Maybe I should recommend that car wash to my worst enemy. Or maybe I should use it instead of buying that plasma cutter I've dreamed about.

Bummer for you though.
