Question Any way to check the VIN on my 79?

Hey Guys,
Im new here and I am in the process of restoring a 79 swb 4x4 chevy, and the build sheet is missing out of the glove box and the seat was replaced becase the other build sheet does not match my VIN. Is there any way to find out my original options? I have tried numerous sites and they all require the 17 digit VIN. I was hoping to retore this truck to stock.
THANKS!
Dan

The VIN doesn't reveal anyting on the truck as far as options go. The only way to know what the truck came equipped with accurately is from the RPO sheet.

Re: Any way to check the VIN on my 79?

I took my VIN to a local Chevy dealer and they ran it through the computer and gave me a print out of the options on my trucks. Worked for the 86 and 91, may help you.
