WIW.. 2BBL T400 kickdown switch assembly

This is something I have never seen before untill towing home ET'sC10 new 68 .. "April fool".... (and I have owned more trucks than one man should be allowed).
Its a complete two barrel manual choke carb and has the normal T400 kickdown switch with a very unusual bracket and fulcrum.

Usually I have only found them on the 4BBL setups..

Anyone else ever seen one? or have one?

Re: WIW.. 2BBL T400 kickdown switch assembly

With this boards vast knowledge, hasn't anyone ever seen one of these kickdowns?? What I'm wondering is whether the whole vertical assembly could be mounted to my Qjet...would it interfere with the air cleaner?

Re: WIW.. 2BBL T400 kickdown switch assembly

Thanks jostrans68. Now I guess I'll decide whether to sell it or hang it on my wall! I have a couple other switches but no 4bbl strikes yet...suppose I'll bend something.

Re: WIW.. 2BBL T400 kickdown switch assembly

ETsC10 - The Truck Shop from Orange, CA offers the complete T400 switch, bracket, and ear in their catalog. The Truck catalog shows the Lokar unit but their Camaro catalog and their full size Chevy(Impala,BelAir,etc) also shows the same thing.

On line www.truckandcarshop.com

I have about 5 Q-Jet brackets and switches but only 1 ear(hard item to find at the yards. Pickmup in Oly had one for sale several months ago - don't know if it went or not. Check with him also.

Good luck - Bob

Re: WIW.. 2BBL T400 kickdown switch assembly

I've never seen a 1 bb carb big block and that kick down was only used on the 1968--72 chevy trucks and 1967--72 camaros nova's chevelles with big block and 400 trans

Re: WIW.. 2BBL T400 kickdown switch assembly

I have that exact stock setup on my '68 396 2bbl truck. It cane wiht a Holley 500 with a manual choke from the factory--ran like a sick dog. I just pulled it off and installed a Q-jet and couldn't make it work because the kickdown bracket and the actuating ear that goes on the Holley 2bbl are completely different than the Q-jet setup. Instead of mangling it to work I just bought a Lokar kickdown for the q-jet and left all the 2bbl stuff alone.
