Saying Goodbye
Well, guys, I am moving to Germany for the Air Force soon, so the truck will have to go bye-bye. I love this site and will keep checking on it till I get back to the States. Thanks for all the ideas.

Re: Saying Goodbye
remember one year overseas tour goes AWFULLY fast...
I'd store w/ family... keep it in the family.... No need to start a " I used to have a..." story in your line up.. keep it grow older/ wiser with it. If it's worth $$$ now , just wait 10 years or so... your already done- as you 'know' the truck . Otherwise, be SAFE, thanks for Serving ! an old Semper Fi, -41-

Re: Saying Goodbye
Actually it's a three to five year tour. Storing it that long would have an effect on the seals, rubber, etc.

Re: Saying Goodbye
I agree with storing it. While, it is just a truck, and you could alway get another one... that is an 8 outta 10 BIG BLOCK cheyenne. You don't stumble upon that every day.

Re: Saying Goodbye
That is one beautiful truck. If you store it properly, you will preserve it. Seals and weatherstrip are CHEAP, trucks are getting more EXPENSIVE! Thank you from my family for your service to our GREAT country. Go USA!!!

Re: Saying Goodbye
Actually a link to an "off site" auction in your sig is fine. Maybe you should edit your original post stating where it is for sale, then include the link in your sig. That would prevent the staff from closing this as a "For Sale" thread....

Re: Saying Goodbye
Your PCS orders should cover storage. This includes autos and any household goods that you are not taking with you.
If your admin office tells you different, have them show you in writing why not. DO NOT SELL THE TRUCK, YOU WILL WISH YOU HADN'T. It may be covered in the Joint Federal Travel Regulations, along with importing your vehicle to your duty station. You may be able to bring your truck with you, it is a pain, that is why the admin offices don't admit to it being possible, because it means extra paperwork. Good luck and don't take 'no' for an answer. There is a whole industry in San Diego devoted to vehicle storage for sailors stationed overseas. They start the car once a week, and keep the batteries charged up - all on the government dime. Bill in SD
