Hello All, This is Rodney Payne. Butch Boyette and I are building this project. My friend Josh Kaylor told me about the discussion thread so I thought I would see what was being said and say hi to all of you fellow truck lovers.

Mr Powell, you are pretty observant about the dash. you are the first one to pick up on this detail. I have attempted to attach a photo of it but since this is my first post i am not sure if I did it right.

We felt the dash was an area these trucks could improve so we cut the stock one out and made one that has the 60's look.

I was reading the previous posts and thought while I was online I would answer the questions about the tire/wheel combo. They are 20x8 and 22x10 with BFG tires. The truck has 4 wheel air ride to get it LOW. We think it looks great but I guess that's a matter of taste based on some of the posts.
Here's the latest photo of the truck since we chopped it. What do you think?

It looks like you also brought the bumpers in closer to the body and closed in the bed to cab gap, from the looks of the last picture. What kind of wheels are those? Do you have any pictures of the rear bumper? I love the stance of the truck. That's going to be a sweet truck. Thanks

How much did you wack out of the roof? I normally don't like chops on these trucks but that looks good. Subtle mods are the best kind. Now that you're both members please keep us updated.

IMO, that's what makes a top chop look 'right' vs. obvious. To look right, it has to be very subtle..... enough so that you have to ask yourself or someone "What's different?".

To the builders.... I'm building a very similar truck. What color scheme are you considering cause I really don't want to build a 'copy-cat'? My truck was originally light green/white (factory 2-tone) but we haven't decided on whether or not to 'tweak' the colors w/something modern.

Mine will utilize the stock dash w/some tweaks to get things flowing so I know that will be different & my plan was the same diameter wheels all around.

I really like your build-ups & have checked them out in person @ the GoodGuys shows. I look forward to seeing this one as well.

Gorgeous truck and glad that you dropped in to check out our comments on your build. I am one that hates chops too but that one looks gorgeous. Truck is going to come out really nice from what we see so far. Keep us 67-72 nuts posted on the build. We would greatly appreciate that. That Ford you guys did too is one of my favorites.

Wow, I love the dash! I am another who doesn't like chops, but something about the way this was done JUST LOOKS RIGHT!!! Subtle, not alot taken out, and the angle of the posts look right. Was the B-post tipped forward at all? Kinda hard to tell on this laptop, but are the drip rails shaved too? And what about the hood, was the front of the hood messed with? Maybe it the angle and lighting, but it looks like a little was taken out of the front of the hood too.

Thanks for all the posts guys. It's pretty cool that there is so much intrest in our truck. I have read the replies since my last post and will try to answer your questions in this post as breifly as possible. The stacks will fit under the hood but we may have to shorten them a little to make sure there's enough airflow. the drivetrain is A GMPP LS2 with Comp Cams valvetrain, TCI 4L60E trans with stall converter and the GM 12 bolt with and Auburn Gear posi and 3.73 gears. We narrowed the rear 3 1/2 inches to tuck the 22's. We have pulled the bumpers in tighter to the body. Pretty much everything is massaged to try to make it look/fit better. I've attached another photo that has a 3/4 rear shot taken while the chop was in progress that shows the rear bumper better. Were not finished with it yet but you can get a better idea of the look. The Wheels are Colorado Custom Sugar City's. As far as the color, We have a custom green mixed that is close to the factory color but we added a little metallic and pearl. Our goal is to keep it 60's but with a bit of a modern twist.

Thanks for the great feedback on the chop. For those that are curious, we took less than an inch out of the rear and about 1 1/2 in the front. The A pillar is leaned back just a little and the B pillar is raked forward a couple of degrees.
