UBJ/LBJ Advice Needed
I am needing to replace my upper and lower ball joint's on my 68. I know everyone talks about how good MOOG parts are, but I'm a broke college student and can't really afford them. I was looking at the Duralast brand from Autozone, and the price is good but I don't know about the quality. Anybody have any experience with these or other "budget" priced parts. I know I shoudldn't skimp on suspension parts, but my budget doesn't allow much wiggle room. Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: UBJ/LBJ Advice Needed
Dave, I have used Oreillys budget parts and get good service out of them. I'm like you, I don't want to skimp on suspension parts but I get sticker shock when I look at the price of moog. I have about 80,000 miles on upper+lower Oreillys house brand ball joints in my old beater 78 chevy. They are still tight (and I tow a 4700lb travel trailer with that truck too.)
And at $16 a pop, I can afford to replace them again should I need too Again, that is not Auto zone parts, but maybe there is an Oreillys around you there.

Re: UBJ/LBJ Advice Needed
There is, actually. I hadn't checked their prices, but that's about the same as "the zone". Thanks for the input; I'll have to head down there tomorrow. Also, how much should I expect to pay to have the lowers pressed out/new pressed in??

Re: UBJ/LBJ Advice Needed
Dave, I don't know the going rate to have the pressing done, I do that myself. You can borrow a ball joint service kit at the auto parts store (put down a deposit that you get back when you return it) If you work on a lot of these you should consider buying a ball joint service kit (Harbor frieght's workd great and is about $100 for the set). I have a HF kit and it is the cat's a$$ (that means it is awsome )
But I imagine you could get them pressed in and out for not too many bucks.
