which bucket seats for my 72?
Help all, new to the truck world. I just bought a 72 Cheyenne. It has AC, PS, PDB, 3.73 12 bolt Posi, 4 speed. The glove box door states the truck came with bucket seats, but it now has a bench seat. I would like to go back to the bucket seat look, but I need that 3rd seat. I've seen some trucks with a flip down console that can be used as a 3rd seat. This is what I want. What do I need to convert to this setup? What years should I look for that will bolt right in? I love this truck, I needed a change from driving my 69 and 71 GTOs. Check out a pic of my truck

Sounds like your after 67-68 CST bucket seats. Besides maybe considering changing the seat covers to a 72 style, thats about all you have to do. Bolt in.

The 67-68 style sounds like what you want, but they are hard to find, bring big bucks when you find them, then you have to pay to have them fixed, and then you are still sitting on a 35 year old seat because no one makes new foam for them. Plus a 67-68 will not be "correct" for your 72 truck anyway. If you are going to put somthing in there that is not 100% factory correct I would look to the aftermarket. Steel horse makes some fine leather seats with the fold down third seat like you want, and their are other choices. I have a link at home of a company that sells leather seats that shortback like the original buckets and they sell the fold down third seat as an option. I don't have the link at work but if you are interested I will post it when I get home.

As promised here is the link to the lowback leather seats that I think would rock in our trucks. http://www.salesco.com/carseats/lowb...er%20sport.htm
They also have many other seats and the fold down center seats like 67-68's have, look here http://www.salesco.com/truckind.htm ------------------ 72 GMC Sierra SWB almost finished---- 84 Softail Olive Branch MS

I would rather go with the factory *incorrect* seats myself. If I ever get my hands on a set that is the plan. True on not being proper though. The '69 and up has 2 seats and a big 'ole console inbetween.
Nice rig you got there. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350.
