Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

I need a set of P225/60R16's for my car. I was doing some surfing and came across http://tires-easy.com. The prices seem really good. Apparently they work like many on-line vendors, saving money on retail stores and just shipping on-line.

But..."my too good to be true" alarm is ringing and I wanted to check if anyone has had experience with them.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

Well I haven't used them but would be very interested in finding out about them myself. I priced tires for my wifes car last weekend and these guys are going to save me over $200.00. So if you decide to purchase some tires let us know the results.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

I normally order my tires from tirerack.com, or at least use them to research since their rating system is top notch...

found out a couple weeks ago that i get a discount from discount tire center due to my camaro club membership. They gave me $100 off my tires and free installation. was pretty happy about that.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

My plans have been slowed down (again). Long story short, I got a new, better job. More money, less work...the new job is gonna be great. The bad news is I won't be getting my first paycheck from the new job until the middle of June, so money is kinda tight at the Shelley household this month. BUT, the first thing I'm doing with my first paycheck is buying my wheels and tires!

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

Yeah discounttiredirect.com had the best prices on my BFG 275/60/15 Radial T/As. All the local places wanted about $425 to $500 for a set but DTD would ship a set to my door for $389.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

I just bought 4 BFG's for our 03 Monte (pretty sure the same size as your looking for) from Costco. Mounted, balanced, Road hazard and new stems was a grand total of $325 out the door with lifetime free rotation. 75,000 mile tread life.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

well, for my most recent order, tirerack was cheaper than tires-easy, discount tire direct, and discounttire. guess it pays to shop around since each tire is probably a different story

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

i checked a bunch of online tire stores, recently got tires for my truck/ i found that to buy online and get mounted and balanced locally wasnt worth the few dollars saved if in the future i need and type of warrenty and or service done. i doubt the locals will do much to correct your online purchase problems

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

If you go the online route, it's best to have them installed at a shop that is not a big tire dealer. I think the best thing is to look at tirerack.com, and use their wizzard to find a recommended installer. Those places are more friendly to mounting tires from another store.

Some places get kinda pissy when you walk in with another stores tires to get them mounted and balanced.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

cdowns, good points. my savings was almost the cost of a new tire if one goes bad, so i was willing to gamble.

jimPA, i agree on the installation. my local sears wanted $27 to install and balance, but merchants tire (also a national chain recommended by tirerack) does it for $12.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

I ordered a set of wheels and snow tires from discounttiredirect a couple years back, only to have them show up improperly balanced. The closest Discount Tire to take them to was 100 miles away.

I only buy in person now. Our local Mom and Pop place will price match anything I find online.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

I'm the first person to say "Buy locally" but when the local dealer wants several hundred more for the same item, I have to go with the cheaper option. I just can't justify the difference in price.

Case in point, I went to my local wheel and tire shop just last weekend to get a price quote on the wheels I'll be ordering in the next couple months. I was quoted $1997, tax included for them. I priced the SAME EXACT WHEELS online and can have them delivered to my door for $1431. To me it's a no-brainer. The $566 savings is paying for the complete set of tires from tires-easy.com.

If the local tire and wheel dealers were more willing to match prices, maybe not as low as online dealers, but reasonably close, I'd LOVE to buy locally. Seems like they'd rather lose an entire sale rather than cut into their per item profit margin.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

I've been using Tire Rack for 15-20 years with zero problems. OK one time UPS fumbled and lost 4 tires (and AFAIK still hasn't found them), but the Tire Rack guy sent a new set by FedEx in 2days. Can't beat that with a stick. Now they have a warehouse in Shreveport, so I like them even better.

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

Well, tires are officially ordered. Turns out that the prices at tires-easy fluctuate (as often as every other day) and today when I was ready to order, their price was higher than tirerack.com. So I ordered the tires from Tire Rack and should be getting them early next week. WOO-HOO!

I have to wait until Thursday (July 4th holiday and all) to order the wheels, and once they're ordered it will be 6 to 8 weeks before delivery, but at least progress is being made!

Re: Anyone Used tires-easy.com?

UPDATE:

I received my tires today. Order was placed on July 3, and the back tires were backordered. I had to wait two weeks to get 'em, but it's no big deal since the wheels aren't going to be finished until late August (6-8 weeks from order).

Nothing but good things to say about TireRack. Great prices, great service.

I know a tire is a tire, but here's a pic of what was waiting for me when I got home from work today. Woo Hoo!
