What she used to look like.....
Well, Since I'd thought I'd toss up a pic of what My father and I's project truck used to look like. This pic was taken probably close to 20 years ago now!
Right now it's in a shambles sitting in the garage. He had welded up a front frame section from a 1980 Suburban on to it and it's got a Dana 60 rear end. hasn't been started in ages.. someone stole the set of double hump heads he had for it from the shop he had it at in New Orleans. anyhoo.. We hope to be able to get started back on her in the very near future and get her mobile again... |

Re: What she used to look like.....
oh most defenitely!!.. we are just having issues with agreeing on a few different things with it but for the most part we have agreed on most of what we would like to do to it.. We shall see tho.. I'm hoping to have more of a say since in the end it will be my truck.. I already know once i get a house with a garage the first "other" project that he can find and the truck will be mine LOL

Yeah, my parents and brother are going though that with my mom's '54. I have to remind my Dad and brother that my mom will be driving this primarily. Enjoy your time together and try to learn from each other. Any recent pics? What are the plans you have agreed on? Daniel U

Re: What she used to look like.....
no that's the only pic we have of it right now. it's already got a first gen 350 4bolt main with 327 heads. We are going to put trip 2bbls on it (already got the intake & carbs just need to rebuild the carbs). TH400 trans right now and that's pretty much it. Since the new front frame section is off of a 80 suburban we have to get a new steering column (will be an ididit colum) and also get a set-up to mount all the accessories (altenator ac pump p/s pump) onto the engine because our 327 heads do not have mounting holes for any accessories. We'd love to do a frame-off and get the frame powdercoated and then just the usual wood inner bed and interior upgrades. We are mainly at a disagreement about the color of the finished product. I want a candy rootbeer brown over a silver base so it will look close to the way it used to but not quite. He's talkin about red. We also have to pick out some wheels to toss on it.. only other thing we've talked about doin to it is frenching the headlights but dunno if we will follow through with that one or not.

Re: What she used to look like.....
Welcome to the boards from south Texas. I understand working with your dad. I am doing a 52 with my dad right now. For the most part we agree on everything but sometimes we just discuss what we both feel looks best. He has spent a bunch on money on his truck and I have been trying to keep up with the parts getting them installed. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can finish the floor and then we can start the body work. I already have the MII front suspension welded in and the rear end is in so once the body work is done maybe we can drive it...waaaaaahoooooo. Good luck and enjoy the time you get to spend with your dad.
