stance question

We bought a 71 truck it has a late model bed on it and 15 inch wheels. We are thinking of lowering it. The differences between front and back is 7 inches, between the top of the tire and the wheel well. we don't know if it has new springs is there any way to find out from the ground to a point on the frame
or the body what it should be or should i just start with new springs on back and go from there. also do you think the difference in the weight of the bed is a factor?

thanks
for any help.

Re: stance question

Is the back 7 inches higher?

I would assume that the front springs are sagging quite a bit. LMC shows the difference at about 2 inches front to rear. Mine right now is much lower in the front than the back. I would suggest getting new front and rear spings for it. Check out Earlyclassic.com. They have good pieces.

Re: stance question

Another thing to check out is the wheel wells. They are different on the newer bed. Also some people line up the body line from the cab to bed, some don't,these things all make a difference in the stance.
