Got Mud
I know, I know. This is not a lot of mud but you have to conceder my story.
I have had the Blaz for 3 years and have had it together for a few months now. I think I have only put 20 miles on it though. I have been slowly working all the little bugs out. The 1406 cab that I have had on the Blaz is junk. I traded a local guy for a good 'ol trusty Q-jet. I got it put on this morning. Went out and spent the afternoon away from home with the family. On the way back the kids were a sleep and the wife and I got to talking about paying off bills and stuff. It comes up again. "Why don’t you sell the Blazer you never drive?" We talked for a while and figured it could help us a lot. She might have had me 70 % convinced this time to do it. When we got back, my neighbor and I got it fired up and reset the timing. Well the wife’s wanted to go on the "I have a new carb, let’s go test it out" ride. We all 4 got in the Blaz and headed down the road. Jeff says "let’s go down this dirt road that I got stuck on when we had all the rain. It should be dried up pretty good by now." So we head down there. Mind you that I have not yet installed the front drive shaft. I still need to get a U-joint for it. So I tell Jeff that we are only a 2wd truck at this point. The road looked good and we went down it and only had 1 spot where we had to go through the good 'ol Texas black mud. Little girl come through for me though. If you notice the front tires were not kicking up as much mud as the rear. The wife got excited and said it reminded here of the years we played in Jones's Swamp in Pensacola with the Yoda. She was fired up. No more talk about selling it. She is asking me how many days it will take to do the front driveshaft and really get her ready to play and work out the other bugs. Moral of the story for now is: Jeff's dirt road might have saved the Blazer from the wife’s butcher block for now.

Re: Got Mud
Cool- keep it. Do what ya gotta do, but don't sell it- unless your family can't eat. If you are like me (probably most people in general) selling it would only be a short lived band- aid to catch up on bills. Then you would still have bills, and no Blazer for stress relief. Been there- done that- more than once.

Re: Got Mud
Well you're lucky that your wife likes riding in it. I have to talk my wife into taking ride in the blazer. My teenage daughter is worse. I had to drop her off a block from middle school the other day because she was too embrassed to pull up in a classic convertable truck. I don't get it.
Congrats on getting your blazer running. I can't wait to see pictures of the mud after you get that front drive shaft installed.

Re: Got Mud
Thanks Durrty. The seats are APC Super Race Seats from summit.
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...06595&D=306595 It dont look like they offer the same seat anymore. It has a carbon fiber looking material. Not a bad seat. If you weigh more than 230 pounds, they might not be wide enough. They hug your hips and shoulders. I should have went for suspension seats instead of race seats though. I grew up in SLC. Spent my first 15 years there and in Tooele. Welcome to the board.

Re: Got Mud
I hate the thought of giving up something so cool for just bills. Here's some mud shots of mine from back when to keep you motivated from selling! I'll need to get it dirty with the softtop and new wheels next.

Re: Got Mud
I am going to keep it.
The wife has autorized me to keep so far, the posi rear and the lift kit. I wonder what she will sit like when I get rid of those flat front springs? Here is my new bumper. I made a few mods today. I am not sure if Texas laws requre a bumper, but I put 1 on. I also added a new water temp guage, fire bottle, tow hooks and licnce plate. Stuff that has been laying around.

Re: Got Mud
I know you already thought about this but remove a couple of shims from the core support to close that lower gap in your front fenders. It is real easy to get them out of alignment especially when doing body lifts. I've had to fix a couple of them where the panels were misaligned. Cool ride...congrats on winning the wife over.

Re: Got Mud
Yea, the front end is 1/2 inch taller than the rest of the truck. I am going to fix it but I am going to wait untill I need to remove the radiator for other maintenance. I may pull the engine in a few months for a rebuild. I am debating on building a stroker with the current engine or I might pick up a vortec shortblock from my neighbor and build that.
