Re: need help identifying some gears
That appears to be the older style 2 piece open carrier...before you get mad, that is a good thing if you're wanting to use it under a muddin truck...the Detroit locker for the D70 2pc. carrier is pretty cheap.

Re: need help identifying some gears
That is a helical gear set with a lot of teeth missing.

Ah yeah, be very careful about cleaning after a mess like that. There is more of that trash rolling around in that housing than you would ever believe. Pressure washer, degreaser....,ore pressure washer. Replace every bearing and seal.

Re: need help identifying some gears
yeah those gears are pretty aint they im guessing thats from the 2 pinion bearings letting it jump around (what ive heard anyway)
what do i need to search for, just a detriot locker for a d70? strength wise, how does that rear compare to a good working HO52? i was hoping for something fun (aka 2 wheel rooster tails) without having to spend more money, but if i have to spend i like to hear cheap it'll probably be a while before i put it in, the trans guy at work quoted me $250 to rebuild it. plus ill want to redo all the brakes first. |
