Looking at new steering wheels
Can't decide on which wheel to get. I'm looking at the grant nostalgia w/ black foam and the blue bowtie horn button. Then I'm thinking of the grant collector's series that has a leather grip and either 3 or 4 spoke polished aluminum w/ billet bowtie horn. What do you all think? I like the idea of leather but I'm torn a little. Anyone have these already. Thanks.

Re: Looking at new steering wheels
I have the Grant woodgrain one on my Truck and a leather wrapped one on my Son's Nova...Both are very comfortable.

Re: Looking at new steering wheels
Does the 3-spoke make it easier to read gauges or really no difference? Now I'm really torn. Love that wooden one, too. Thanks for the pics.

Re: Looking at new steering wheels
I think either way you go the gauges will be somewhat obstructed because of the smaller diameter. If you so go with Grant, they make an awesome billet adapter that matches the wheel, plus there are many billet horn buttons available as well. I have seen just plain smooth horn buttons, ones that have a bowtie and I think there was one with flames.
Mike Here's a few Here is the billet adapter, I have one on the Nova Last edited by BigMike; 06-07-2007 at 05:36 PM. |

Re: Looking at new steering wheels
I also have the 3-spoke mahogany Grant wheel (it's either 14" or 14 1/2") with the blue Chevy horn button. Looks great, works great. I never had a factory wheel so I'm not sure how gague obstruction compares (the wheel I replaced was a 13" grant), but the 3-spoke does obstruct the lower gagues - but that could just be because I'm short (5'7"). My solution was to get a tilt column...

Re: Looking at new steering wheels
Here's a pic from my 5'7" perspective with a non-tilt column ... (yes my legs are that white)
