Need Some Tech help

I have a 1972 GMC Jimmy 4x4 I am Building i just got everything dialed in and now my problem is.....

1. When Driving it goes to a certain speed and when I let of the gas it sounds like one Rock and a Bell is tubling in my transfer case. Does anyone know what this might be.

2. I also Noticed that the Front drive line turns while I am driving even when its in 2 HI But If I grab the drive shaft throught the Cover it stops so it is free wheeling but it still spins..... I would like to know why and is this normal.

Not sure about your t/c noise but it doesn't sound encouraging. Have you drained the gear oil to see what it looks like and whether there are any metal pieces in it?

It's normal for the front driveshaft to turn some even when it isn't engaged.

Re: Need Some Tech help

If one of the front hubs is partially engaing it can sound like the t-case is about to drop out, may not be it but check to be sure.

It's happened to myself and a friend that has a ford, poor guy was certain he had busted his t-case while wheeling with us and was about ready to yank the thing out...
