Odd numbers?

Numbers on an eBay truck = CCE142S193329. I decoded some of this, but not all. Here are a couple starter questions:
  • C = 4x2 -- but it's listed as a 4x4 (Shouldn't that be a K?)
  • What's the second C for?

Re: Odd numbers?

for starters those are the wrong rivots for the vin plate. either it was removed and transferd or removed for paint.

if you read all the discription its is a 4x4, its on a 97 tahoe chassis. you can see the new style front ifs in a couple of the pics.

Re: Odd numbers?

Well, that explains it. I need to read the whole thing! I wonder if that's why people are willing to pay so much for it?

Re: Odd numbers?

That truck is a mutt. 72 vin, 67-71 door panels and 69 grill stand out right away...

Re: Odd numbers?

Yes 1972 VIN#. The second letter should be a K for four wheel drive.

Re: Odd numbers?

in 72 they added an additional letter at the beginning of the vin.
C for chevy, and T for GMC

for example
CCS = Chevy 2x4 with I6
TKE = GMC 4x4 with V-8

Re: Odd numbers?

It states the truck was converted.Evidently to 4X4 with Tahoe parts.It looks nicely done but the bid is $15,100.00 and reserve hasn't been met.I wonder if the guitars would bring enough to pay for the truck?I was never a big fan of the E Street Band.

Re: Odd numbers?

Looks good, but for a truck that appraised for $37,000 you think they could have put some nicer tail lights and brackets on it. Looks like a 1st semester high school metal shop job on the brackets and I've bought those same tail lights at Wal-Mart for a boat trailer

Re: Odd numbers?

My guess is the cab with the vin plate came from a 2wd truck and the frame from a 4x4 and the two were mated together.
