Got it out of the garage>>>
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! It Drives!!!!!!!!! Took it to the store and bought a celibration BEER The brakes are still a bit squishy and I have to remember the R&Ps are brand new and need to sorta not get on the BBC buttttt... YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! It Drives !!! YA! Draglink ties into the tierod instead of the steering arm. The steering is soo smooth, one finger steering and I don't even have my ram installed yet. Some have made comments about the draglink not being level with the tierod but so far I don't see that as an issue because of the way the drag link goes to the tierod instead of to the steering arm like everyone else with crossover/highsteer... I leave on Thursday for Hollister so I'll have some better action shots and stuff

Looks great Burt! Can't wait to see the action pics. New tires, new front axle - can't get much better than that!!!

Re: Got it out of the garage>>>
Very NICE!
The only issue I see with that draglink is the fact that a straight tube would be stronger and less likely to bend. I am assuming you acquired that one from somewhere so for now it had to do? How much lift is that?

Re: Got it out of the garage>>>
I talked with WFO and we may switch it to a straight one like you said. More for looks than function, the tube used is perrty damn thick I don't see it bending to easily. The orginal design had to be changed and that draglink was originally going to be connected to a steering arm not the tierod like it is now. Another reason I love WFO's service, he will do whatever it takes to make it right
My front is 4" Rancho springs that are over 14yrs old and the rear is 5.5" Superlift about 10yrs old, oh and I have a 3" bodylift.

Burt, that thing came out awesome. Nice work and enjoy the beerz. Shame your not on the right coast, Rausch Creek was a blast this weekend, would have enjoyed wheelin' with you....
Are you posting up more howto's, so I can learn? Waiting on the action shots. J.

Re: Got it out of the garage>>>
I'm not sure I know HOW I did it hahahah
Actually the front was easier than the back, the front being all bolt on affair in place of my D44. Were the rear I had to grind off the spring perches and shock mounts. Then re-weld the perches(about 1.5" inword) and made shock mounts. Drivelines being the biggest issue so far, My rear fits but it is streached out about 1.5" more than before, wereas the front had to be cut down by 2"... Other than that my only other issue is getting all the damn air outof my brakelines and I'm not to sure about the used calipers but I have no money for parts so they will have to do for now, this winter it is new rotors, pads & calipers for all 4 corners. Other than that it wasn't too hard..well the money and time envolved was peerrty tuff but hey I Got-R-Done

Re: Got it out of the garage>>>
Dude, you outo try those speed bleaders, about 7 bucks a pop, but they work great. No more wifey " I don't think it was all the way to the floor" routine. Or my leg is getting tired.
Nice build Burt, let's hear how it works in the dirt.... J.

Re: Got it out of the garage>>>
Hey Burt,
If you go straight with the drag link....um what you doing with that one? I am in the process of making a cross over setup on my Dana 44. I got everything. But I gotta bend up the drag link. I am using a 86 and up center drag link like yours so mine will attach in the same spot but under the leaf, so it needs a bend. |

Re: Got it out of the garage>>>
I was talking to my buddy over at PacFab and he suggested I gravity bleed the brakes. basicaly start at pass side rear, crack open the bleeder, master cyln cap off and let it leak out until 1/2 the fluid is gone, tighten then fill then move to the other side...so on and so forth..hell it worked! I have brakes now...Errrrrrrrrrrrr = swamper noise as they lock up on the pavement
Next stop = Hollister Hills for some Mayden Voyage fun!! YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Re: Got it out of the garage>>>
That's good news - would hate for you to have a brake issue while out having a good time. So, you gonna flop it over on the driver's side this year

Hmmm, I like that - I take it you got rid of the beer induced camo paint?

Re: Got it out of the garage>>>

Someday I may get it painted, nothing fancy just back to one color...or not..

Note to self, when drinking with Burt, keep vehicle out of range of spray can.
