Is it really worth building up my 230?
My 65 has a really solid 230 inline six in it w/only 44k orig. miles. Is it worth doing any performance add ons (clifford's headers, intakes, HEI, etc)? I was going to just swap to a SBC, but the orig. motor has some cool points too. Id like to hear from anyone who has done any inline 6 performance. Thanks.

If you're actually after power, probably not really worth it.
The SBC is relatively cheap, and ample power even stone stock. But if you're after coolness factor, dress up the 6. I like Stovebolt cast iron split exhaust headers, maybe Clifford intake, or maybe multi-side-draft intake, and HEI just for convenience. |

depends on what you want, it could be cool dressed up a bit but dollar per hp the sbc has alot more value. u might hear alot of people say that sbc's are a dime a dozen, no originallity. but to be honest, the only place where i've ever seen a bunch of cars with sbc's is the drag strip. i hardly ever see a truly beefed up small block running around town. more original then u might think.

I would start with a 250, but not a 230. The extra 20 cubes, along with head changes, make a big difference.
If you want even more, go with a 292. The block costs more, but there is a lot more power.
