what can i use to remove the paint off of it so i can repaint it

Are you sure it has old paint on it and it's not the plastic's color itself?

if it has paint, then paint stripper, laquer thinner, sand paper, any of that should work.

laquer thinner does the best but it makes a mess

LOL that's true.

Personaly I never had ANY luck with paint stripper like in the spray cans or brush on. I tried doing it exactly as the instructions said, letting it sit longer, and shorter times and nothing helped. I even made sure to get the aircraft stripper, still not much luck.
