New Toy
I have been buying parts for my 68 for awhile now and had just about everything to start putting it together, when this came along. I wasnt really looking for another one of these since I had already bought one to build later, but I couldnt pass it up. I have driven it daily for the last two weeks. I think it has been the best $1200.00 I have ever spent.
Its an 83 Silverado, fully loaded, body is in pretty good shape, needs paint, but no major rust. Interior is in fair shape, looks alot better now that its clean. Heres the good part. Freshly built 350 ( less than 500 miles when I bought it) with new crank, rods, flat top pistons, new Comp Cams, cam, lifter, double roller timing set, new Weiand water pump, new Edelbrock performer intake, new Holley 4160 street avenger carb, new fuel pump, alternator, starter, balancer, belts etc, headers with new 3" exhaust and flowmasters, new TCI Street Fighter Turbo 350 with new TCI converter and flexplate. Old style of Eagle Alloy wheels with fairly new tires. It runs and drives perfect, nice lopey idle, real fun to drive. I was ready to jump on my 68 and thought I may just flip this one but I think I will go ahead and strip it down, paint it and finish it. Here it is the day I bought it. |

I am 39 years old and this is the first time I ever got a deal like this! I am usually the one letting them go like this. I only got this one because I knew the guy, he needed cash fast and I was the first one he told what he wanted for it. I was at the right place at the right time. He never even got to register or title the truck, just drove it on back country roads for a couple of months playing with it. Last edited by outlawc; 07-25-2007 at 02:06 AM. |

Re: New Toy
Iknow the 67-72,s are more valuable than the 73-87,s but damn what adeal . for 1/2 the money or less you can make this thing look & run as good as your 68 . & a few years down the road what will it be worth in relation to how much you have in it. this is basically amazing . If this same drive train was in a 67-72 in same condition, what would you pay for it (at least 3500-4500)
envious in Va. |
