wheels suggestion

looking for advice - is it possible to pick up a sub-$200 set of four 16" or 17" wheels that will look decent (temporarily) on my truck after swapping to 5-lug setup?

suggestions, anyone?

Re: wheels suggestion

thats not much of a budget for 16's or 17's unless something from a salvage yard will fit

Re: wheels suggestion

that's what i'm kinda getting at.

i see deals on craigslist all the time for wheels and tires for $150-250. lots of them are 5-lug. just curious if anyone else has scored a deal, if anyone near me has any for sale or trade or whatever. (i have stuff to trade, definitely, but ... that's not why i'm creating this thread)

Re: wheels suggestion

i'll reiterate: i am looking only for something temporary until i can afford something better after 5- to 6-lug conversion

examples of what i can get:

5 lug, $200:
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/382065158.html

16" chrome $100:
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/382007896.html

16" alloy $150
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/382002210.html

15" Caprice wheels $60:
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/381345303.html

15" chrome wheels $110:
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/381066795.html

Iroc wheels $220:
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/380636619.html

Nice steelies with new tires $250:
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/379784395.html

don't get me wrong, i'd prefer something that will look nice and want larger than 15" because of some clearance issues to be had with dropped spindles on 15" wheels, but ...

Re: wheels suggestion

thanks, guys! i found some guy with 15x7 and 15x8 slotted wheels with tires on Craigslist. i'm gonna call him and see what he wants. i really wanted to go with 16's or 17's though.

i'll check out Summit in the meantime, since they're just down the road.

Re: wheels suggestion

hey Tavenner, those last ones are great, but they don't have them for my truck in anything but a 15", damnit! good price, too.

man, i found these and really wanted them: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/362001583.html

but after calling the guy, they're using 5 x 4.5" lug pattern and won't fit the new 5-lug rear axles for my truck. whoda ever thought finding four inexpensive wheels in 5 x 5" lug pattern would be such a pain in the ass?!

Re: wheels suggestion

I've been looking for a pair of wheels only. I have 2 16" tires that have a lot of life left but I need 4 new ones on my car. I also have a trailer with 5x5 pattern and need some cheap, cheap, cheap wheels. I did find Jeep commander and grand cherokee steel wheels in 16" and pretty cheap on ebay. Every seller lists them as 5x5 bp. I haven't found just 2 steel wheels cheap but I'm still looking. I'll keep you in mind if I find a full set.

I have a correction. Not all sellers list it as purely 5x5. I found another description of 5 x 5.12 or 5 x 130 on the Jeep wheels so they likely won't fit properly. I'll still keep you in mind Shifty if I find a set.

Re: wheels suggestion

This is a reprint of a list that I posted on here months ago. It might help your search. But to be honest it didn't do didley for me seeing that I would love a set of 17x8s for the front and 17x10s for the rear, just simple stamped steel wheels in a larger size. Unfortunately no one makes them. I found two companies that would custom make them but the prices are nuts... Pete Paulsen wheels and Stockton Wheels.

Here is a 5 on 5 bolt compatibility list that I have compiled for wheels or brakes. Admin donno if this is FAQ material, but your welcome to do with it as you wish...

Re: wheels suggestion

I've decided just to pick up a pair of these, 15x7 in the front, 15x8 in the rear. It's $200. I'll either swap my current tires onto them or pick up some used ones at the local used tire place.

shifty,
Will the wheels that you picked fit with disk brakes? Can you supply the part number?
Thanks
