My Truck and it is singing
http://www.classicheartbeat.com/foru...ead.php?t=4445
My son posted this on Wes's sight so I thought I would stick the link here. I hope that is ok? Some day I will learn how to do these pics. This is the year that the transformation on my 70cst will start to take form. Now that I have the money set aside I am planning on having the engine rebuilt and check the brakes and suspension. Safety is a must. It has been a long time in coming (since 2001) but the wait is almost over. It has what I call natural mods (rust/dents) and a few man made mods. The time is at hand for my "Lean Mean Green Machine" to get back on the road where she belongs. Let the party begin.

Any chance you can get a photo of the option sheet (SPID) in the glove box for us?

I just noticed you are in ohio... if that truck is original paint (one reason I wanna see the spid) then you have a gold mine there.

Re: My Truck and it is singing
Yes.... I believe it is the original paint. I will have Nathan take a picture of the glove box option sheet. I added the AM/FM and Tilt...all other options came with the truck.

Re: My Truck and it is singing
one other thing i would like to add is that the seats have been recovered sometime in there lifetime, the original seat cover is still under the passenger seat, but is no longer on the drivers side

Re: My Truck and it is singing
my gold mine reference is the fact that these things have desoved and returned to mother earth in these parts of the country, and that looks to be a sloid rust free(ish?) truck.
The paint combo IS rare though, snd acording to some on here, was never offered with any accent other than white. The 396/400/402 confusion is very common. In 70, they didn't build any 396 cid engines. They were all 402s. Chevelles and camaros were still advertised as 396 due to the performance immage they already had. There is no reasonable answer as to why they still typed out 396... or even why the h*ll they called it a 400. However, after the 70 model year started, there were no more 396 engines. |

Re: My Truck and it is singing
Does anyone know the paint code for the dark green? I plan on painting my 69 dark green and white. Thanks.

Re: My Truck and it is singing
Longhorn Man...
If I understand you correctly you are saying that a two-tone paint scheme that white is not one of the two colors is unusual? I also realize that with the GM strike in 1970 the production numbers were very low that year for our trucks. This truck was purchased and brought up from Celina Tn. back in 2001. (thats why rust is at a minimum) I found this truck in the Truck trader the night that the Trader came out and I went out to look it that night and with the long list of options I went ahead a bought it. I think I paid $2300 for it. Mike the owner said the phone was ringing of the wall for the next few days. On the way home to Arcanum the starter went out and then the alternator was not far behind. My wife keeps joking saying that the only times she sees it running is when its behind a tow truck. Ha Ha Its been a long road and at times I almost sold it but I could never pull the trigger. I'm glad that I didn't. Now that my war chest funds is built up the transformation is about to begin. Life is good.

Re: My Truck and it is singing
there was a strike, but it wasn't a big thing. Production numbers were down a bit, but nothing to get excited over.
2300 is a good price in this part of the country as I'm sure you know... esp for a nice truck. here in columbus, junkers cost more than that. |
