Talking looky what i got!

well, i've been watching this auction on flEa-bay, and after doing some scum bag antics, aka, sniping at the end of the auction, i am now the proud buyer of 4 GMC hub caps. (sorry if i out bid someone on this board... )

rusty? you bet!
but, i think they'll clean up nice for my little driver. when it becomes a driver. haha.

i'm giddy like a little kid....god, i love new parts. bwahaha.

Re: looky what i got!

Scum-bag? Hey, don't hate, there's absolutely nothing wrong with sniping. IMO, if you really want something, that is the absolute best way to handle it. In the end it always comes down to who wants to pay more for the item. The only people who hate "snipers" are the ones who want something really cheap and are mad when they don't get a "steal". Bid what you're comfortable paying and if it goes for more it shouldn't bother you.

Nice caps, they should paint up nice...... ......Jerry

Re: looky what i got!

i was trying to teach my wife the finer points of wining an ebay auction recently...

1) decide what is the maximum you are willing to pay for an item.
2) wait until the last 20 seconds of an auction, make 1 bid. you win or you lose. if you lose, then remember... you were only willing to pay X for the item... you still have your cash and you can try again on another.

and those hubcaps look awesome, nothing a litle brillopad cant take care of!

That's true - but when it is a person that lists parts for cheap (or items) for cheap, it really does hurt them, and drive the market price up. I for one try to always give people the benefit of bidding low, and getting it as cheap as possible - but sometimes - everyone will hold out, (15 watches, 0 bids) and then you have 1 bid come in and win for bottom dollar and you (seller) lose money. It's hard to be nice and sell that way - so you just about have to ask a higher starting price just to CYA. EVEN THOUGH - On an auction that I feel has reached a fair price - I'll snipe one out.

- NICE SCORE DUDE!
Nuttin' wrong with original centers!

Re: looky what i got!

haha, thanks for the kind words guys.

i'll be sending out my $20.55 money order out this afternoon, and hopefully get them late next week, or early the one after.

and if it's any consolation, the only other person who bid, entered a price of 10-12 dollars as there max. amount. hense why i won for $12.55. apparently s/he didn't think the hubcaps were worth that much? lol. got me...

and as for the rust, c'mon. i live in RustConsin. surface is simply childs play...:P

If there aren't any bids the seller can always close the auction so they don't "give" the part away.

you just about have to ask a higher starting price just to CYA.

That's it in a nutshell. as a seller, don't list a nice part at $1 and go from there. If it's a $100 part, I will at least start the bidding at $50-$75 and go from there. Either that or set a reserve (which is costing more and more these days so you're better off just starting the bid where you're comfortable) .....Bamm

P.S. Sorry for the hi-jack..........

i'll be sure to look into these eagle products, especially if the caps are covered over chrome. if not...it's probably going to be strip to bare metal, prime and paint white, then pain the insets black, and the ring and GMC red.

atleast, thats the plan.

but then again, what goes to plan? lol.

Re: looky what i got!

Sam,
Good score on the caps. I bought some for my truck in '05 off ebay. I was the only bidder. Got a set for $10.00 plus shipping. I didn't feel bad either cause I've overpaid for plenty of stuff.

I checked out your build thread. Your truck is coming along just fine.Heck, you've done more to that in 6 months than I did on mine in a year.

Re: looky what i got!

thanks for the nice words all!

working on the caps was a nice side project i did when i got tired of doing real work, lol. i could put down the welder and grinder, and go putz with the hub caps. plus, they got done fast, so progress was easily visible, which also helped keep me goin'.

but yes.

w00t to stock caps!

oh, and Dew!

anyone try the new Mt. Dew Game Fuel out for Halo 3? it's delicious. lol
