I told alot of people about my ambitions for this truck when I bought it. Many of them missed the part about it being a long term project, and confuse me for a guy with lot's of money. Definately the greenbacks that keep me focused.

I use the truck to relax and think about other problems. Instead of stressing and making other things in my life worse I head for the garage and work on the truck while I think of logical/rational solutions.

Not to mention my youngest son(7) is really into working on it aswell, my oldest(10) likes checking out the progress but just isn't into working on it at this point. My youngest actually gets seriously upset when it's time to get out of the garage for any reason.

So between the my Son, the OCD, everyone on this board and using it to relax the motivation stays pretty high.

Doing a little at a time and keep it running so I drive it on the weekends. It needs work but I do drive it.

Thanks Man. We Argued Over Engine/Trans Combos And Bench Raced More Than We Worked On It, LOL. I Think I'm Gonna Go In The Direction Of : What If Chevy And GMC Offered A SS Package For Our Trucks? That's Where I Think I'm Heading. ????

Wow, How Cool!!! Did you see that really cool truck a couple posts up?........ I like that color of Blue....I need to get working on my truck........... man, I wonder whats new on the 67-72chevytrucks board...I need to stay focused......... Aren't Ford Focus's ugly... I think they lost focus in the design department... That's right I gotta design a lew logo for the sign at work... Work, Dang, I gotta get up for work in a few hours (notice post time above)... When I get off work, maybe I'll focus on my '68 project truck...

Thats right, I try to stay focused as best I can on my truck projects. Project...crap, I gotta a project due Wednesday in my college web-site development class...I gotta go...

Kind of like sick69 said, my motivation is the rest of my life. I go out and work on one of my trucks when I've got a problem to work out, or when the rest of life is just requiring me to step back and reexamine things. Seems like for every 1 problem I solve on the truck, I can work out 3 more in the rest of my life.

Started this project back in 93. Yea it's taken awhile, but you can only do what money, and personal commitments allow you to do. Bed is being done at this time. After completion, it's nuts and bolts from here. Hope to have it on the road by next year? Added so many mods and options, gonna need 2 spid labels on the glovebox door. If I die before completion maybe one of the four grandsons will finish? Just wanna drive it before then.

I would say many of us have things in common...
It can be family, friends, or just a source of stress relief. Its a goal or vision of what we want to accomplish someday. It's realizing that we will have something to look forward to tomorrow or the upcoming weekend. It's developing friendships and maintaining old the ones. No matter what stage our trucks are in we see each others as equals and I don't see or sense an attitude of my truck is better than yours. This board helps us keep focused as we give each other words of encouragement as we pat each other on the back through these threads. It's our suppliers/vendors who see us more than a customer they see us more as as a friend. Yes there are exceptions but I still believe that 99.9% of those who are connected to this board are straight shooters who are willing to give a word of advice or words of encouragement. What keeps me focused...faith, family and friends and I believe this board as some of all three!!

I am not sure how wise I am but it just seems like for the most part we all get along with each other. We have done that or been there attitude is shared by many of us. It is refreshing to see all those who are willing and able to help each other out along with all the great vendors. In other hobbies the vendors see their busines as a source of income where our vendors sees it as a way of life with opportunites to help out whenever possible. Our vendors develop friendships on a regular basis which is the norm and not the exception. I guess it is just down right refreshing to leave the "dog-eat-dog" world and unwind and recharge on this sight. Hopefully the spirit which makes this hobby so special continues to grow.

I love driving my truck and that keeps me motivated. I also love tinkering and improving stuff on the truck. After putting up with our bit**ing winters here when I open the garage door in April after I haven't seen the truck for 6 to 8 months, for me its like seeing a newborn for the first time.. Listening to that big block come to life and going for a drive are therapy for me.. Also this board and the members keep me motivated and I love learning new things about our trucks.

My truck is in my shop and the wife doesn't like going in my shop. That keeps me motivated to stay in the shop.

For me... its really just a lifestyle, always got to building something. That creating something with my hand. building something from nothing, making something great out of what someone else may consider junk.... I always tell everyone its the journey of the build not the finished product for me. I can escape everything out in the garage. Sure I might get a little tired or frustrated with something (like sanding- ugh- for days on end) then move to do something else for awhile then go back to it after a while..... But when your done.... and tyou start getting thumbs up whlie driving down the street or people coming up to you at gas stations wanting to talk about your ride... Man theres no better feeling saying " yea I did it"..

What may seem like your up against a never ending project, it may get a little over welming... But you need to get orginazied, get a game plan, write up a "to-do" list and time you want to do it with in... Cross that sucker off when you finish that portion.... Also, visit this site everyday, look at other build projects and finished projects.... You will get motivated!!!!!!

So what are you going to do tomorrow????

My thing is that I work to much at a job that requires intense concentration, and analyizing problems in electronic hardware and programming. I get pretty brain tired, and my burb helps me get back to the good ol' basics.

Or when my Dad teases me about it never being "just right" for me to drive around on a regular basis, my perfectionism gets the whole project bogged down.

Lastly, this board. I am on here almost daily, and it helps me not have to think about work stuff. At the same time it gives me motivation to get my butt out there and work on the ol' girl.

Mostly my dad, he has always supported me since I was 14 working on my 91. Now three years later, he is still helping me do a frame up on my 86. With out him I would have had to quit a long time ago. Plus when school gets me a little stressed, I just need something to get my mind off things. It also keeps me away from things such as drugs or trouble period. Ive watched a bunch of my friends ruin there lifes from not staying busy, thats why I got a truck.

Too many people can have a new truck, but a few like us are lucky to have a 40 year old truck, shining as the first day they were born, I am proud to keep driving my dad's old truck and i am sure my sons will be too. Greatings from Sonora, Mexico.

WOW ... This thread was started back in 08-03-2007, 05:06 PM ... And guess what ... my truck still isn't finished. Soon very soon. Like in about a month. Then again I have been saying that since the fall.
