Hood vibrations
The center of the hood on my blazer vibrates alot when I drive it. You can push in on it alot too. Does everyone notice this or am I the only one. I figure I can reinforce it from the bottom but I just wanted to get an idea if everyone's hood deflects like that.

Re: Hood vibrations
when new they had foam strips between hood braces & skin. If yours are gone you may want to cut some for it. They just push in & super easy to make almost anythig work.

Re: Hood vibrations
found a picture of the braces, and if you look close you can see an edge of the foam i was talking about sticking out. I have to tuck mine in every so ofter or they would have been gone long ago. The hoods are pretty flimsy but mine don't shake going down the road. Its a pretty closed cell foam.

Re: Hood vibrations
Mine vibrates too, but it seems like its the whole hood - sorta pivots back an forth on the latch point. I plan to eventually replace the side bumpers (the rubber blocks on the fenders) to see if that helps. That, coupled with a hood latch adjustment, should hold it down more firmly.

Re: Hood vibrations
I used spray in expandable foam between my braces and hood. It works great, and give the hood a solid sound.

Re: Hood vibrations
I'd get the replacement strips from one of the vendors rather than the expandable foam. You can't remove the expandable foam very easily and it doesn't look as nice.
My '69 had that (done by a PO). It worked great but I never liked the looks.

Re: Hood vibrations
This is true too, but I think it would not be too hard to clean it up a bit, just don't wait for it to dry completely because it can pull the paint off if you try to trim/clean it up once dry.

Re: Hood vibrations
I wondered who did that to the hood Bouncy - I didn't want to make any comments, but when I popped the hood to have a look at the engine bay - I wasn't expecting to see bright yellow expanding foam on the underside of the hood -
Oh well - add it to the list of future updates... |

Re: Hood vibrations
When I did mine I put masking tape down both sides, let it dry, and trimed with a knife. Then finished it off with some seam sealer and painted it. I think it looks great, and the hood is now solid

It was actually much worse when I bought the truck. I trimmed quite a bit out. I never like the look but I couldn't figure out how to get it all out of there.
