Question Any 1 done the 89-91 grill swap without changing the core support?

I am wandering if my current core support can use the 89-91 grill headlights and all just put them on an 84 model dual headlight core support are there that much difference in the core supports?

As state, you can only use the 89-91 core support. One has vertical provisions for 2 large lamps and one has horizontal provisions for 2 small lamps, BIG difference...

I have actually seen a 4x4 swb truck that had the newer grill but it was the old core support.
They cut rectangular holes in the core to make it work.
The only reason I even realized it was the stock core was I that I couldn't figure out why the headlights were so obviously crooked.

So no, you can't use your stoock core.

i've seen a conversion kit offered somewhere in "truckin" magazine, or maybe it was stylin concepts ?? anyways, there deffinitely not "reasonable", i'm thinkin they were around $700 or so

your best bet is to find a donor blazer or suburban

I know LMC sells a replacement core support for 73-80 trucks, they might just make one for 88-91 trucks. It's not uncommon for battery acid to eat right through them.

Several site supporting vendors sell replacement parts for these also, myself included, I can get you a core support, but if you are looking for a conversion to an 89-91 grille setup, I would get it from a donor. It will come will all the wiring pieces you need also.

This is our 89-91 Quad setup:
