Re: Alternator Wiring help please.
Not sure what kind of help you need or what problems you are having, but I wired my internally regualted alternator according to the schematic provided on the other thread. Didn't have any problems.
Just make sure that it's an internally regulated alternator. |

Re: Alternator Wiring help please.
CJ if you read my post in your thread on the electrical forum in the last sentence I said there is more to it. Now in your post you said can anyone explain the in-line exciter diode. Then later you are talking resister. I can tell you that if you do not have an idiot light charging light then you will need a 75 ohm 3 watt resister in the sensing circuit. There is a huge difference between a diode and a resister so I assume you meant resister.
As far as I can tell from your pics you have an internally regulated alternator. As 68GMSEE says, just wire it like the schematic shows and it should work fine.

Re: Alternator Wiring help please.
Is the plug the same as the old alt? If not does it still have the external voltage reg hooked up? The plug on an ext reg alt is more square. On a int reg alt it's more rectangle(like the one in your pics).
