rust bubbles
i have a box with rust bubbles.what is the best way to clean it up.metal is sound and there is no bondo

I am sorry to say that if you have "rust bubbles" the metal is not quite sound. At the very least you have pitting under the paint. If you take the paint off there are some acid washes that will kill rust in pits. Your only other choise is to sandblast till you get to "white metal", which is proably the best choice for a true fix. Sorry

I agree sand blasting the area is the only way to go, if you want to fix the rust problem once and for all.

And you'll probably only find paint holding on scaley rust. Once you knock all that off, I'm willing to bet you'll see daylight.
