Re: 58 GMC Project
Yesterday I went to a local annual car show "Hot August Daze". The show had some nice Hot Rods and Trucks. There was a really cool Shelby 427 Cobra there also. At the end of the show they started calling off the awards from 1920's 1930's 1940's and so on for best of class. When they got to the 1950's the guy called “And the best of class for the 1950’s is…The 1958 GMC” WOW my truck! Cool!! So, I walk back to my truck and they continue on with the awards. Now they call off for "Best Interior" and the guy says “And best interior goes to the 1958 GMC” What? He called out my truck again! I thinking "who...me...again?" So I walk up and get my second award! Now I'm thinking WOW I can't believe it, I won two “Best of awards”! So now comes time for the show winner, "Best of Show" so I sitting back thinking about all of the really cool Hot Rod, Muscles Cars and Classic and who's going to win. Well, he calls off, “And the winner for Best of Show goes to the 1958 GMC" WHAT? I’m saying to myself. ME? I WON BESTOF SHOW?? Now this took me totally by surprise!! So I walk up for the third time. The guy shakes my hand and said "As the show winner your invited back next year where your truck will be displayed upfront by it's self as show winner from 2007. Next year event T-shirt will have my truck on it! What an honor, I'm still in shock!!

Re: 58 GMC Project
Good build man! Congrats! Do you plan on doing any freeway travels between now and next year? I know when I shot my IROC I picked up rocks immeadiatly. Just curious. I'm thinking about making the show circut with the '54 the 1st year. Then daily driving it.

The awards are well deserved and will keep coming. I've been through your thread a dozen times and use it for inspiration and ideas. The best part is that you are driving it.

Re: 58 GMC Project
If I take it out of town, I plan on renting a car trailer. I really don't what to get behind a big truck and have him kick up a rock and chipped the paint.

Re: 58 GMC Project
Well, not a true trailer queen, only on the long trips. Not only to keep it from getting chipped, but with a 14 gallon gas tank and 10 miles per gallon, I would have to stop and fuel up to much.
