68 to 71 Emergency Brake Conversion
I have a 71' C20 that I restored. As a part of the restoration I had to replace the cab, and the best I could find was, the best I can tell, a 68'. Not thinking about the emergency brake I find that the 68' use a handpull, versus the foot press one in the 71'. I find the 71' mechanism will not fit and I'm trying to figure out how to bolt in the hand brake "AND" what to do about the cable. All help is appreciated. Photos of an installed handbrake would be super.

If a C20 cab is the same as the c10 cab, you can convert the 68 to the foot brake that is in the 71. I had to drill 2 holes in the firewall and cut the hole for the cable to go through. It was a pretty easy task overall. If you do convert it, you will need to get a different upper cable I believe.

Maybe my cab is not a 68', cause what prevents me from using the 71' brake is the fuse block on this cab is in the way.
