Dipstick leak

Does anybody have any tricks to get the dipstick on an automatic transmission to stop leaking?
The first time I seen it dripping I thought it ran down the outside of the tube while filling it.
I have tried about 10 times to get the thing to stop leaking with different O-rings but it just wonīt stop.
Everything is clean and straight.
Itīs gettin on my nerves.

Re: Dipstick leak

Try another dip stick, sometimes they get worn down and will continue to leak no matter what.

Re: Dipstick leak

Some of the newer trannies don't used an o-ring, they have a rubber sleeve that fits over the end. I believe they have them in the HELP section at the parts stores. It may be worth trying.

Re: Dipstick leak

The one I have in there right now is brand new. It was probably made in China or something.
I think I am going to put the old one in and try it.
Before I did the engine and tranny everything was full of oil so I donīt know if the old one was leaking.

That sounds better than just an O-Ring. I sure wish I was in the states, parts are easier to find over there. Iīll see if the store here has something like that. If he does he will have to order it just like almost everything else. The only stuff he has on stock are for tune-ups (Filters, plugs ...ect.)

I think I will just wrap teflon tape around it and hot glue it!

Re: Dipstick leak

A properly sized O-ring, (I.D. O.D. @thickness) will play a big difference. Also, CLEAN, no contamination. The other thing to check for is if the tube is out-of-round, they can get that way when pulled out for service.

Re: Dipstick leak

I tried about 20 times yesterday and finally got the leak stopped. I finally found the right size o-ring and also put some teflon thread tape just under the lip above the o-ring.

The tube is brandnew and wasnīt deformed in any way. The spout was perfectly round.

Thanks for the tips anyways.
