and yea just because its a 91 one doesnt really mean anything as far as fixing or any of that, mines a 72 and its more reliable than my friends newer cars or even my other families newer cars
Yeah my wife can be pretty stuck-up at times.Shes a Dental Hygienist and feels that she should have all the NICER things in life!? Oh well. She'll get glad in the same pants she got mad in....or another pair.

Don't sell it because of the wife, next thing you'll be selling something else and it's a slippery slope that will lead to unhappiness! Keep the truck and sell the furd!

Re: What should I do?...need advice

My .02 cents. If your wife hates this truck that much, don't let it be the wedge that divides you. God knows there are enough daily wedges to avoid without that being a huge one. HOWEVER, if you have a wife like mine that will eventually get over it, then keep the truck. Most women are funny, they don't like the 'Build Process' on a classic vehicle, just the end product. Example, my wife could have killed me rather than looked at me numerous times while building the '56 Bel Air, however now that it's finished she absolutely loves it and can't get enough of it. The '72 Stepside I had before, the wife hated, until it was finished and had A.C., then she loved going places in it. I was foolish and thought I needed a '05 Crewcab chevy, so I sold the '72. 1.5 years later I decided I couldn't live without another classic truck, so I sold the Crewcab and bought the '68 stepper. My wife pretty much hates it right now. All she sees is me spending money on a 4 color truck and nothing being done. I am stockpiling parts to put it all together at once soon. I know in my heart that after I get the truck finished she will love it. SO I bide my time and listen to the earful in the meantime.

Now, as for A.C. etc. I say keep the longhorn, spend 300-500 on an underdash A.C. system (Vintage Air will run you 1100.00 for a complete surefit system, but I highly recomend them), buy a small used trailer off of Craigslist, (I just bought a 6x10 trailer for 450.00) and use the longhorn to haul the woodand trailer. She has a relatively dependable (although a Ford) vehicle, YOU will have a relatively dependable vehicle with A.C. that you can haul you and 2 kids in (I hauled my daughter everywhere in mine, it was a daily driver), and family outings get the ford. As for gas, when people gawk at what my mpg are, I simply say, "everyone has vices, some smoke, some drink, some porn, some drugs, some golf or sports. I do none of those, my vice is classic vehicles, and gas prices are part of my recreational therapy. At the end of the day it's cheaper than a psychologist (but not by much). I hope some of this helped your decision making a little. We are always here to help, even if you do sell the Longhorn, we will still be here to help!
