Whaddya think?

Okay, I originally got onto this website because of a little blue C-10 LWB I bought when I was 15, probably had 10+ trucks since then and now have a '01 Silverado as I'm in the Marines and have a steady paycheck so I can afford it. But I still want a C-10. I stumbled upon this one on a site I visit pretty rarely actually. Only CRAPPY thing is NO TITLE... This is about as much as I know about it. '68 SWB Fleetside. Has a 327/3 speed manual. Hasnt ran in about 2 years but ran when parked(So did my first C-10 that sat for 11 years and I was able to get it running and a '77 that sat for 5 and ran like a top as well)Guy tore the truck down and was gonna rebuild it, but lost interest and wants to get rid of it. Only wants 500 to get it gone... Okay, problem one... I dont really have the extra cash to blow right now, but I see this as an investment, I can either spend the money now, or spend a bunch more money later because these trucks are going up in value... problem 2, no title....BIG PROBLEM. Problem 3, it isnt running and cant tag is since there isnt a title, so I'd have to take it back to the farm in KY, which is 600 miles away... until I can get a titled cab to swap it out with... But here is the pics... Let me know what y'all think... Thanks.
Brandon
PS the '69 C-10 SWB in the background, less motor and tranny, HAS TITLE is for sale as welll for 700, located in NC

Re: Whaddya think?

Big question is, is it really a no title, or is the guy just too lazy to file for a lost title? Lost title is easy, but man, no title i would probably keep looking---- i know these trucks are going up in price, but they're not '57 Chevys -- they will only go so far.

Unless---- 5 or 700$ is a decent price for a bunch of clean parts. You hear of people picking 71-72's for low coin if you need a cab too. The SWB frame, bed and doors are worth in excess of $500

Re: Whaddya think?

Well I can have both of them for 1000. Which the '69 comes with a title and its a swb stepside. I'm sure I could just about part it and make my money back, and then just keep the '69 cab and title, and put it on the swb fleetside frame. but one, I dont have enuff cash for that str8 away, before parting, and 2 no way to get 2 trucks back to KY... The body on the 68 looks really solid and the driveline is there, as you can tell in the pics.

Re: Whaddya think?

I guess I'm really gonna just have to go take a look at these trucks. I'm waiting on better pics of the '68 Cab, in the pics looks like he's done shaved the tank hole and some other things so I dont know. The only thing the '69 has that I want/need is the title... everything else I could sell such as the step bed and the swb frame and crap. the rest of the clip is in the bed... Thanks everyone, keep the opinions coming

Re: Whaddya think?

I just dont think I can pull the scratch together to get both of them... If I buy them seperate... its 5 for the red one and 7 for the black one, if I buy them together its 1000 total, but I just dont have it. I am just now payin all my bills down and dont wanna get a freakin loan. Besides, I think the red one is all there except for a title... heres the rest of the pics, the first is another engine shot of the '68 and the rest of the '69, I think the 69 is a little worse for wear.

Re: Whaddya think?

Crank, I don't recommend it at all. I know what it's like to be stationed somewhere and things can change drastically without warning. I recommend you remain debt free and build up some savings. Then when you see that running truck that you reeeeally can't live without- buy it instead.

Re: Whaddya think?

Well I'll keep tossin it around... but what you said Brad, sounds really smart. Altho I work on Ospreys so I'm not gonna be going anywhere any time soon. I think all the adverse conditions to buying this will just be a pain in my rear, not enough money+no where to work on it. I reckon I should just get my finances in order, then see what I can do! Thanks all. and if anyone is interested, I can get y'all contact info on these 2 trucks!!!!!

Re: Whaddya think?

Don't mean to Thread-jack but...

Alschevy, I'm from Western KY if that helps any?

As to the original problem...If the $$$ could be found without major problems, I'd buy both. One has a title right? take the two trucks and make one...And probably sell apre parts to recoup some money. Not to mention I'd love to have the driverside fender off the stepper

Re: Whaddya think?

Mo huh? I never been to the hobby shop on Lejeune, only here on New River, its pretty crappy compared to Lejeunes from what I hear. I think I'm gonna have to pass on this project, I'm gonna have to find a beater with a title, so I can actually have it on base. I hate this crap.

Re: Whaddya think?

If you can wait a few months to save up 2 or 3 grand (2 or 3g's may mean a LWB, but these are easily converted later, and a few board members have got some really nice deals on some - so it pays to look hard)-- you should be able to get one you can drive and work on as you see fit --- frame off projects are fun, but ask anyone on here-- they usually get into numbers like, 15 grand minimum after they are painted and finished --- plus you have to have a good sized storage area to work to keep everything
